The River Rust is a project founded by musician Jeff Janis.

Inspired by the artists such as Andrew Bird and Joseph Arthur, The River Rust explores song structure and texture with live loops (short, repeated musical phrases). This allows for complex harmonies and rhythms to emerge from simple melodic lines.

Vocals can be subtle harmonies or multiply, creating a wall of noise effect. The acoustic guitar acts as rhythm and lead, taking a limited tonal palette and expanding to fill out the song. Beats are created with minimal prerecorded loops, and occasionally with live percussion/drum kit.

The River Rust is a fledgling band, and is constantly evolving. The hope is to create a unique listening experience every show, depending on setting, mood, and on hand instrumentation.

The single Shades of I was recently released into the world. A full length debut is in the works, currently in the writing/arranging phase.
